Catch 40
Catch 40 is a checkout drill on the numbers 61 to 100. You get six darts for each number, and the quicker you check out, the more it pays: 3 points for two darts, 2 for three, 1 for four to six. 120 is the maximum, 40 the mark to beat. Sridu shows your way out before every dart.
- Play alone for a record, or side by side with friends or bots
- Your checkout route as tiles, worked out again after every dart
- A strip of numbers that fills with 3, 2, 1 or a dash
- The classic 61 to 100, or a short game from 61 to 80

The rules
How Catch 40 works
Forty checkouts in a row, Double Out, six darts for each.
- One number after the otherYou start on 61 and work up to 100. Check out each number exactly, with the last dart in a double or the bullseye.
- Six darts, two visitsWhatever you leave after the first visit carries over to the second. A bust costs you the visit, and the second visit starts again from the full number.
- Quick pays moreTwo darts bring 3 points, three darts 2, four to six darts 1. 99 is the exception: there is no way out in two, so three darts already bring 3.
- On to the next numberAfter six darts it’s the next number, checked out or not. 120 is the maximum and 40 the mark to beat. Sridu keeps your best score as your record.

The exception
Why 99 pays 3 in three darts
98 and 100 go out in two darts. 99 doesn’t, so three darts are the quickest way out:

- Dart 2D20
- 2 darts+3
- 3 darts+2
- 4 to 6+1
Every other number from 61 to 100 goes out in two darts. 99 is odd, and no single dart leaves it on a double, so it needs three: a treble, a small single and the double.

What you see on screen
The panel tells you the number, the darts you have used and what is left.
- The label above the big number reads, for example, Checkout 84 · darts 2/6. The big number is what you still need.
- Checkout tiles: one tile for each dart of the route, worked out again after every dart. The board lights up the field to aim at.
- What each dart did: leaves 36, Check +3 or Bust.
- The strip under the panel shows ten numbers at a time: +3, +2, +1 or a dash for the ones you have played, the current number outlined. Below it is a reminder of the scale.
- After each number: a checkout gets Checked out: +3 and a callout on the board. A number that slips away gets 86 not checked out.
- Your card shows your points, how many numbers you have played and how many you checked out. The caller calls the score of every visit, or bust.

Tips
Score more points
- Know your two-dart finishes. Every number from 61 to 100 except 99 has one. Say the route before you throw, then compare it with the tiles.
- A missed treble isn’t the end. T15 for 81 drops into the single 15 and leaves 66: T10 and double 18 still check it in three darts for 2 points.
- Set up the second visit. If the first three darts don’t finish it, leave a double you like, such as 40 or 32. Then a single dart can still earn you the point.
- Don’t bust in the first visit. Your second visit then starts again from the full number, and four to six darts are worth only 1 point.
- Short on time? 61 to 80 is twenty numbers, all with a two-dart finish. Your record there is kept separately.
