Install Sridu as an app
Sridu runs in your browser, and a few taps turn it into an app with its own icon and window. It doesn’t come from an app store, and you don’t need an account.
In short
- Its own window, without an address bar or tabs.
- Starts from the home screen, Dock or Start menu, even offline.
- Chrome, Edge, Safari and Samsung Internet can install it.
- Updates arrive by themselves whenever you start it online.
The basics
What does installing Sridu do?
Your browser gives Sridu its own icon and opens it in a window of its own. It is still the same web app from play.sridu.com, and nothing comes from an app store.
The app’s files, about 3 MB, are already on your device from your first visit. That is also why it starts without internet.
Benefits
Why install Sridu?
Installed, Sridu behaves like any other app on your device. You notice it most on the screen that stands next to your board.
- Its own windowNo address bar and no tabs, so the scoreboard gets the whole screen. Ideal for a tablet or a laptop next to the board.
- Starts like an appFrom the home screen, the Dock, the taskbar or the Start menu. It opens straight into Sridu, not in yet another tab.
- Works offlineScoring, every game mode and your statistics work without internet. Only playing online needs a connection.
- Your data stays on iPhone and iPadIf you use Safari for seven days without opening a site, Safari may delete what that site has stored. Apps on the home screen are exempt.
- Updates itselfEvery start with internet loads the newest version. There is no store and nothing to click through.
- Still free, still no accountInstalling costs nothing and asks for no sign-up. Your games stay on your device.

Where do my players and statistics go?
With Chrome and Edge, on a computer or on Android, the app and the browser tab share the same data. Everything is there straight away.
On iPhone and iPad, and with Safari on a Mac, the installed app gets storage of its own and starts empty.
Bring your players along
- On the old deviceOpen Profile › Data › Switch device › Send and pick the player. A QR code and a code appear.
- In the new appOpen Profile › Data › Switch device › Receive, then scan the QR code or type in the code.
- Compare the numberBoth screens show the same four digits. Tap Allow on the old device, and the player comes over with all their games.
From the Safari tab to the app on the same iPhone? Use the backup file instead: Profile › Data › Export in Safari, then Profile › Data › Import in the app. That takes every player along, with your settings and calibrations.
Camera access: depending on the device, the installed app asks again before it uses a camera, for example to scan a QR code. Just allow it once more.
Always up to date
How does the app get updates?
Whenever the app starts with internet, it loads the latest version. While it is open, it checks every half hour and whenever you come back to it.
- Check the versionAt the very bottom of the start page you see the version, with Check for updates next to them.
- Watch for the barWhen a new version is ready, a bar at the top says A new version of Sridu is ready.
- Tap Update nowThe app reloads once and runs the new version.
Mid-match? Nothing reloads by itself, so an update never cuts into a match. Tap Update now between legs or after the game. What each version brings is in the changelog.

FAQ
Questions about the app
Why can’t I find the install option?
Check that play.sridu.com is open in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Samsung Internet, not in a private window and not inside another app such as WhatsApp or Instagram. If Sridu is already installed, Chrome offers to open the app instead.
Is the installed app a different version?
No. It is the same Sridu as in the browser, with the same features, and it updates the same way.
Does the app work without internet?
Yes, once it has been opened online. Camera scoring, every game mode and your statistics work offline. Online matches and the lobby need a connection.
Can I put Sridu on my TV?
Most TV browsers can’t install web apps. Connect a laptop or mini PC to the TV and install Sridu there, or put a tablet on a stand next to the board.
Can I install a self-hosted Sridu?
Yes, as long as it runs over https or you open it on the same computer via localhost. Browsers only install web apps from secure addresses. Self-hosting shows how to set that up.
Something doesn’t work in the installed app. Where do I say?
Use Report a problem in the app: in the ⋯ menu of a game, in the settings or at the foot of the start page. The version and your device go along by themselves. Report a problem shows what else helps.
