Play darts against the computer

Add a bot in Sridu, set its 3-dart average anywhere from 15 to 110 and play a real match. The bot aims like a player, and each dart lands with a natural scatter, so it has good visits and bad ones just like you.

A leg of 501 against the bot Lukas with an average of 55: his first two darts of the visit sit in the single 20, the board shows a faint circle round the treble 20 he aims at, Anna waits on 349.
The real app: the bot Lukas (Ø55) mid-visit, aiming at the treble 20.

In short

  • Bot average from 15 to 110, set with a slider.
  • It aims at a real target, and each dart scatters around it.
  • X01, Cricket, party games and drills all work with bots.
  • Free in the browser. Real opponents wait in the lobby.

Set up

How do I play darts against a bot?

Open a game, tap Bot opponent and pull the slider to the average you want. Then start as usual and throw your darts, the bot throws its own when it is up.

The player list of a match: Anna, Ben and the bot Lukas, marked Bot Ø55, with the average slider set to 55, and the buttons Player, Bot opponent and Online opponent below.
A bot sits in the player list like anyone else, with its own slider.
  • Pick a game501 is the classic, but any mode works.
  • Tap Bot opponentA new bot starts on an average of 40, or on the one you used last.
  • Set the averageAnything from 15 to 110, in steps of one. Several bots can play in one match.
  • PlayYou score your darts with the cameras or by tapping the board. The bot’s darts appear on the board one by one.

Difficulty

Which bot average should I choose?

Pick a bot close to your own 3-dart average for an even match. About 10 points lower makes a confidence game, about 10 higher pushes you.

The bars show how often the bot hits the treble 20 when it aims there, measured in the app’s own simulation. Not sure of your average? The guide to the darts average has typical values per level.

  • Ø409 % treble 20Hobby level. About every second dart stays in the 20 bed.
  • Ø6020 % treble 20A good pub or club player.
  • Ø8031 % treble 20Strong league player, tons come often.
  • Ø10046 % treble 20Top level. Almost every dart lands in the 20 bed.

Under the hood

How does the computer throw?

Like a person. It picks a target, such as the treble 20 or the double it needs, and the dart lands with a random scatter around that spot. Whatever field it hits is what counts.

20118125
Bot Ø40, nine darts at the treble 20. Half of its darts land inside the circle, about 24 mm round the target.
20118125
Bot Ø100, the same target. Its circle reaches only about 8 mm round the target, so almost every second dart is a treble.
  • Calibrated to your rulesIn X01 the scatter is worked out by playing simulated legs with the match’s real rules: start score, double in or out and handicap. So Ø40 means 40 in the game you are playing.
  • Good and bad visitsEvery visit is thrown a little tighter or looser, and about three darts in a hundred slip out of the hand and fly wide.
  • Real finishesIt plays the checkout routes, misses doubles by a wire and busts now and then, as people do.
  • Honest labelsA bot is called like someone at the club, Lukas, Anna or Marco, and always shows as a bot with its average, also on a shared result card.

Game modes

Which games can I play against the computer?

X01 and Cricket, and the party games and drills too, from Tic-Tac-Toe and Killer to Bob’s 27. Outside X01 the bot’s scatter is set so it scores like a club player of that average.

In Tic-Tac-Toe a weak bot spreads its darts wider, as beginners do, so it does not take a field with almost every visit. All modes are on the game modes page.

  • X01

Play down to exactly zero. 101 to 1001, double, master or single out, double in and checkout suggestions.

Tournaments

Can bots fill up a tournament?

Yes. Choose a fixed field size and the free places go to bots of the strength you set. In a knockout you can take byes instead, in a league or groups bots always fill up.

That makes a full bracket out of three friends on a Friday night. More on tournaments.

FAQ

Good to know

Is playing against the bot free?

Yes. Bots are part of Sridu, which is free at home and in your club, without ads and without an account.

Does the bot cheat?

No. It never picks its result, only its target. Where the dart lands is chance, shaped by the scatter that fits its average.

Do matches against a bot count in my statistics?

Your own figures count as usual, and the bot gets none. The leaderboards for X01 and Cricket leave bot matches out.

Do I need cameras to play against the computer?

No. Tap your darts on the board, as on the online darts scorer page. With cameras you just throw.

How strong is a bot with a 110 average?

Very strong. Aiming at the treble 20 it hits it with more than every second dart, and almost nothing leaves the 20 bed.

Can I practise with bots too?

Yes, bots join the drills as well. For practice on your own, see the darts practice app.
