Last One Standing

One target per round, the same for everybody. Hit it and you live, miss it and a heart breaks. Players drop out one by one while the rest play on, until only one is left standing.

  • Two players or a whole room, bots included
  • 1 to 10 lives, shown as hearts
  • Three levels of targets, or Auto by your average
  • Fair to the end: every round is played out
  • Unrated: just for fun

Round 5, the double 16 for everybody. Anna hits it twice and wins a lost life back; with nothing left to win, her visit is over at once. Ben misses three times and drops out, while the others play on. Cleo hits it once and keeps her life. Drawn the way the app shows it.

The rules

How a game works

Everybody starts with the same number of hearts. One visit each per round, in turn.

  1. One target per roundEvery round names a target: a number, a double, a triple or the bull. It is the same for everybody in the round, and it lights up on the dartboard.
  2. Hit it to keep your lifeHit the target once in your visit and your heart is safe. Miss it with all three darts and one heart breaks.
  3. Hit it more, win one backTwo hits bring a lost heart back. Once nothing can change any more, your visit is over at once.
  4. The last one standing winsWithout hearts you are out, and the others play on. A round is always finished before a winner is named, so nobody wins just because they threw later.

Setting · Hits to stay

What your hits do to a heart

One setting decides how many hits keep your life. One more than that wins a heart back, fewer break one. Two hearts left before the visit:

  • Hits to stay: 1×Default
    1. 0hitsa life less
    2. 1hitskept
    3. 2+hitsa life back
  • Hits to stay: 2×Harder
    1. 0 · 1hitsa life less
    2. 2hitskept
    3. 3hitsa life back

Setting · Targets

Easy, medium, hard

The level decides what the targets are made of. Every round draws a new one, and this is the kind you can expect:

  • Easy
    1. 20
    2. 7
    3. 14
    4. Bull

Whole numbers, any single, double or triple, and now and then the bull. For a relaxed game with everybody.

  • Medium
    1. 11
    2. D8
    3. T19
    4. Bull

Numbers, doubles, triples and the bull in a good mix. The classic.

  • Hard
    1. D12
    2. T17
    3. Bullseye

Doubles, triples and the bullseye only. Every life costs.

Auto is the default: Sridu picks the level by your 3-dart average. Below 45 it is Easy, from 45 to 70 Medium, from 70 up Hard.

Setting · Lives back

Can a heart come back?

Three hearts at the start, two left, and a visit with two hits. What happens depends on one setting:

  • Up to the startDefault

Two hits win the lost life back. You never hold more than you started with.

  • Up to 2 extraEasier

You can bank up to two lives more than you started with. Longer games, more comebacks.

  • NeverHarder

A life lost is gone for good. Hitting more than needed only keeps you safe.

In the game

What the screen tells you

Players drop out while others play on, which is rare among darts games. The app makes sure everybody always knows where they stand:

  • T19

1× keeps your life · 2× wins one

    The rule, live

Under the target the app says what keeps your life and what wins one. After the visit it says what came of it: safe, a life back, a life less.

  • Nothing left to change

Once the life is won, or kept with nothing more to win, the visit is over: the board locks with the violet sign until the darts are pulled.

    1. Anna
    2. BenOutRound 5 · place 3
    Out, the rest plays on

A player without lives drops out: the card stays, dimmed, with the round and the place. The others play on, and the turn skips the empty seat.

  • Everybody out? A reprieve

A round is always played to its end before a winner is named. If everybody left loses the last life in the same round, those players get one life back each and play on.

  • Hearts on every card: full ones left, hollow ones lost. A heart that breaks pops out, one that comes back pops in.
  • The big target in the turn panel is what everybody aims at this round, lit on the dartboard as well.
  • Somebody drops out: a big “Out” with the name, and the turn skips the empty seat from then on.
  • The caller names the player and the target before every visit, and after it how many hits there were.

Tips

How to stay standing

  • Secure the first hit. One hit keeps your life. Aim where you are most sure of the target: on a whole number that is the fat single, not the triple.
  • Then go for the second. With a heart already lost, a second hit wins it back. That is where the comebacks happen.
  • Mixed room? Easy targets and 5 lives keep everybody in the game longer. A room of good players? Hard targets and lives back set to Never.
  • A party game: with six or eight players and 3 lives it stays quick, and those who are out keep watching who falls next.
