Darts checkout chart and calculator: every finish from 170 to 2
A darts checkout chart shows the quickest way to finish every score from 170 down to 2, with the last dart in a double or the bullseye. The checkout calculator below gives you the same routes for any score, any number of darts and every out mode, and the whole chart prints on one A4 page.
In short
- 170 is the biggest finish: T20, T20, Bull.
- Seven bogey numbers: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159.
- Two darts finish every score up to 110, bar seven.
- No finish on? Leave 40 (D20) or 32 (D16).
- For the wall: the checkout chart as a PDF, ready to print.

What should I throw to check out?
Type in your score and the calculator shows the route to throw, drawn on the board. With three darts in double out it is always the route from the chart below, and for fewer darts, master out or single out it works out the best one.
It also tells you what is left when a dart lands in the single, and what to set up when no finish is on. Pick a favourite double and you get a route onto it as well.
- Dart 1T2060
- Dart 2D2040
100 goes out with T20 D20, the same route as in the chart below.

Every score in the chart below is a link that opens it up here. In a real match, X01 in Sridu shows the way out after every dart, free in the browser at play.sridu.com.
The chart
What is the checkout for every score from 170 to 2?
Every score from 170 to 2 has a route below: the fewest darts, setup darts on the big trebles and a popular double to finish. Some players call it a darts outs chart or a finishing chart.
How to read a route
- T20 is treble 20, the inner thin ring: 60.
- D16 is double 16, the outer thin ring: 32.
- 20 on its own is a single.
- 25 is the outer bull, not a double.
- Bull is the bullseye: 50, and it counts as a double.

Other routes are fine too. 170 has no alternative, and 167, 164 and 161 always end on the bull. Further down, charts differ: 140 as T20 T16 D16, 132 as Bull Bull D16, 130 as T20 20 Bull or 90 as T18 D18 are just as correct, so pick one version and stick to it.
Print the checkout chart
The PDF puts the whole chart on one A4 page. A second page has the bogey numbers, setup shots, the best doubles and the master out bogeys, so you can pin both next to your board.
Reading the chart
How do you read a darts checkout chart?
Read each route from left to right and throw at one target after the other. When a dart misses, take off what it scored and look up the new number.
- Take away what you hitOn 100 you aim T20 D20. The first dart lands in the single 20, so 80 is left with two darts.
- Look up the new score80 on the chart is T20 D10. T16 D16 works just as well.
- Count the darts in handTwo darts finish up to 110, apart from 99, 102, 103, 105, 106, 108 and 109. One dart needs an even number up to 40, or 50.
- No finish left? Set one upLeave a good double for your next visit, as shown under setup shots.
In the app: X01 in Sridu shows a way out after every dart, for the darts you have left, and No finish possible on a bogey. It may suggest a different route that is just as valid.
Bogey numbers
Which scores can’t you check out?
Seven scores of 170 or less have no three-dart finish in double out: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159. Darts players call them bogey numbers.
- 169T20 T20 9 leaves 40
- 168T20 T20 8 leaves 40
- 166T20 T20 6 leaves 40
- 165T20 T20 5 leaves 40
- 163T20 T20 3 leaves 40
- 162T20 T20 2 leaves 40
- 159T20 T20 7 leaves 32
Why they don’t go out
Above 100, two darts only make 101, 102, 104, 105, 107, 108, 110, 111, 114, 117 and 120. So 169 would need 119 before the bull or 129 before D20, and neither exists.
Take 60 off each bogey and you get 109, 108, 106, 105, 103, 102 and 99: exactly the seven scores up to 110 with no two-dart finish.
Don’t leave one yourself. On 219, a visit of 60 leaves 159, and your next visit can only set up. Type any bogey number into the calculator and it shows the setup shot.
Preferred doubles
Which double is best to finish on?
Most players want to leave 32 (D16) or 40 (D20), with 16 (D8) close behind. On these, a dart that lands in the single still leaves a double.
- D16 (32) halves four times: 16, 8, 4, 2.
- D20 (40) is “tops”, where your darts are all leg. A single 20 leaves D10.
- D8 (16) halves to D4, D2 and D1.
- D10 (20) ends many routes, such as 80 as T20 D10.
Why 32 is the classic leave
A dart that drops just inside the wire scores the single. On 32 that leaves another double, and it keeps going.
D20 halves too, but only twice: 40, 20, 10, then the odd 5 costs you a dart.
- Odd number left?Throw a single to make it even: 39 is 7 then D16, 33 is 1 then D16.
- D1, the “madhouse”2 left is the last double there is. A dart in the single 1 leaves 1, and that is a bust.
- Pressure on the doublePractise one favourite until it feels routine, for example with these doubles drills. The darts mental game guide helps if your arm tightens.
Got a favourite double? Pick it in the checkout calculator and it adds a route onto it. On 100 with D16 as your double, that is T20, 8 and D16 instead of T20 D20.
Setup shots
What should you leave when you can’t check out?
When no finish is on, use your darts to leave a score you can take out next visit. Aim for 32 or 40, or at least an even number up to 40.
180 left with three darts
- T20120 left.
- T2060 left.
- Single 20, not T2040 left for D20. A third T20 would bust: zero, but not on a double.
- 150, two darts: two darts stop at 110. T20 T18 leaves 36 (D18), T20 T20 leaves 30 (D15).
- 57, one dart: a single 17 leaves 40, the outer bull leaves 32.
What is a bust? A visit busts when it goes below zero, leaves exactly 1, or reaches zero without a double, and the score goes back to where the visit started. The darts rules show all three cases on the board. More in the darts terms guide.
Fewer darts
Which darts finishes work with two darts, one dart or the bull?
With two darts you can check out every score up to 110 except 99, 102, 103, 105, 106, 108 and 109. With one dart you need an even number from 2 to 40, or the bullseye (50).
From 170 to 2 at a glance
- 21scores go out with one dart
- 81need two darts
- 60need all three
The red cells are the seven bogey numbers. You can never be left on 1, because that is a bust.
How often you take your chances shows in your checkout rate, which Sridu’s statistics track per player.
- Bull only170, 167, 164 and 161 need two trebles and the bull. 110, 107, 104 and 101 need one.
- 50 with two dartsMany players throw 10 then D20, or 18 then D16, and keep the bull for the last dart.
- 25 is not a doubleWith 25 left, throw a single first, such as 1 then D12.
Drill exactly these with Catch 40.
Other out modes
How do checkouts work in master out and single out?
In master out the last dart may be a double, a treble or the bull, so the highest checkout rises to 180. In single out any field ends the leg.
The double out checkout is the standard in PDC and WDF events, and it is what the chart above shows.
Double out
The standard
- Last dart: a double or the bull
- Highest: 170
- Bogeys: 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168, 169
Master out
- Last dart: a double, a treble or the bull
- Highest: 180, and 171 is T20 T20 T17
- New routes: 57 in one dart (T19), 99 as T20 T13
- Bogeys: 163, 166, 169, 172, 173, 175, 176, 178, 179
Single out
- Last dart: any field
- Highest: 180
- Bogeys: the same as master out, since no three darts add up to them
- Good for beginners and handicaps
In Sridu you pick the out mode under Checkout in the X01 settings, per player. The suggested route follows it.
Sources: WDF Playing and Tournament Rules, rules 2.02 to 2.05 (double finish, bull as double 25, bust rule).
Practice
How do you learn checkouts?
You learn checkouts by throwing them, not by reading the chart. Pick a range, throw the same finishes until the routes come without thinking, and work on your doubles on the side.
- Checkout KingRandom finishes with three darts each, and your longest streak is the record. You pick the range, from 2 to 40 up to 99 to 170.
- 121Check out 121 in nine darts, then go up one number. Miss and you drop back to your checkpoint.
- Catch 40Every number from 61 to 100 with six darts. The quicker you check out, the more points you get.
- Bob’s 27Doubles all the way round, from D1 to the bull. Hits add points, a round without one costs you.
- X01Full legs of 501 or 301, with the way out shown for the darts you have left after every throw.
- Every dayThe darts practice routine fits checkout work into a 30 minute session and a weekly plan.
A 15 minute checkout session
- Doubles, 5 minutesOne round of Bob’s 27, or 30 darts at your favourite double.
- Two-dart finishes, 5 minutesCatch 40, or Checkout King on 41 to 98, the default range.
- Under pressure, 5 minutesCheckout King with sudden death, so one miss ends the run.
All of these run free in the browser at play.sridu.com, with cameras or with your scores typed in by hand.
FAQ
Checkout questions
What is the highest checkout in darts?
In double out it is 170: T20, T20 and the bullseye, often called the “big fish”. In master out and single out it is 180, three T20s.
What is a bogey number in darts?
A bogey number is a score of 170 or less that you can’t check out with three darts. In double out there are seven: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159.
Which numbers can’t be checked out?
With three darts and double out, 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162, 159 and everything above 170. With two darts, 99, 102, 103, 105, 106, 108, 109 and everything above 110.
Does the bullseye count as a double?
Yes. The bullseye is worth 50 and counts as double 25, so it can finish a leg in double out. The outer bull (25) does not count as a double.
Which double is best to finish on?
D20 and D16 are the favourites. D16 (32) halves to D8, D4, D2 and D1 when a dart lands in the single, and D20 (40) is where most players aim all leg anyway.
What is the difference between a three-dart and a two-dart finish?
A two-dart finish is one setup dart and the double, so it goes up to 110 (T20 Bull). A three-dart finish has two setup darts and goes up to 170. With three darts in hand you still take the shortest route, so 100 is T20 D20.
What is the highest two-dart checkout?
110, with T20 and the bullseye. 107, 104 and 101 also go through the bull, and 100 (T20 D20) is the highest two-dart finish on a ring double.
How do I learn the checkout routes?
Throw them. Checkout King deals random finishes and counts your streak, 121 moves you up one number per checkout, Bob’s 27 trains the doubles, and the darts practice routine shows how to fit them into a week.
Is there a printable checkout chart?
Yes. The checkout chart PDF has every finish from 170 to 2 on one A4 page, plus a second page with bogey numbers, setup shots and the best doubles.
How does the checkout calculator work?
For three darts in double out it shows the route from the chart. Everything else it works out from the board: the fewest darts first, then the big trebles and the doubles most players like, D20 and D16 before the rest.
