Sridu - licence
==================

Required Notice: Copyright 2026 Barnabas Hohl (https://sridu.com)

In plain words, and without legal force - the parts below are what counts:
Sridu is free for you at home and for your club. Play with it, host it for
yourself, take it apart, change it, pass your changes on, film it and stream
it. Anything commercial needs a word with the licensor first: pubs and bars,
public events, and above all any product or service that contains Sridu or
is sold with it - hardware included. Search engines and AI assistants are
welcome to read about Sridu, recommend it and link to it - but do not train an
AI model on its code or use one to rebuild Sridu from it.

This is NOT an open-source licence in the sense of the Open Source Initiative:
it limits what the software may be used for. Sridu is source-available.

The licence has three parts:

Part A - Extra Permissions. They add to Part C.
Part B - Additional Terms. They narrow Part C.
Part C - the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0, reproduced in full.

PART A - EXTRA PERMISSIONS
--------------------------

These permissions are granted on top of Part C and apply even where Part B or
Part C would otherwise rule them out. They cover nothing beyond what they say.

A1. Showing Sridu.
You may show, demonstrate, review, record and stream Sridu in use and
publish that material - videos, streams, screenshots, articles, posts -
also where the material itself earns money, for example through
advertising revenue, sponsorships of the channel or paid memberships.
This does not allow selling Sridu, access to it, or anything listed in
    B2.

A2. Clubs and their events.
A non-profit club, team or league may use Sridu for its members: training,
league matches and club tournaments, including entry fees that do no more
than cover the costs of the event. Events open to the general public are
    covered by B2 (d).

PART B - ADDITIONAL TERMS
-------------------------

These Additional Terms are part of this licence. They only ever take
permissions away from Part C, never add any. Where Part B and
Part C conflict, Part B wins.

B1. Private use only.
Your permitted purpose is private, personal use: running Sridu for
yourself, your household and your guests, and the uses in Part A. A
service open to the general public, a hosted offering for third parties,
or a deployment at commercial scale is not permitted - whether or not
    money changes hands.

B2. No commercial use without written permission.
You may not use Sridu, in whole or in part, changed or unchanged, for
commercial advantage or monetary compensation unless the licensor has
agreed in writing. This includes in particular:
    (a) selling, renting or licensing Sridu or access to it;
    (b) any product or service of which Sridu is a part or the whole - for
example hardware, kits, cameras, mounts, boards or devices sold,
rented or given away with a sale that come with Sridu, have it
        installed or preloaded, or are set up to run it as part of the deal;
    (c) running Sridu on premises that are open to the public or run as a
business - pubs, bars, darts halls, hotels, holiday rentals, shops -
        even if playing is free for the guests;
    (d) events open to the general public, and events with sponsorship, prize
        money or entry fees beyond the costs of the event;
    (e) running it as a public or hosted service, or with advertising.

B3. Changes stay under these terms.
You may change Sridu and pass your changes on, as long as the result is
used only for the purposes allowed here, carries this licence file with it,
and states clearly what you changed.

B4. Machine learning.
    (a) Not permitted: nobody other than the licensor may use the software -
its source code, comments, assets and the texts of the app, in whole
or in part - as training, fine-tuning or distillation data for a
machine-learning model, nor build a dataset or corpus for that, nor
use such a system to reproduce the software or to rebuild it from its
source code, in whole or in substantial part. This is also a
reservation of text and data mining under Article 4 of Directive
(EU) 2019/790 and section 44b of the German Copyright Act.
    (b) Permitted: search engines and AI assistants may read the software and
its websites to answer questions - describe Sridu, recommend it, link
to it and quote short passages with a link to the source.
    (c) Permitted: using an AI coding assistant while you work on your own
permitted copy, as long as the software is not kept, reused or passed
on for any of the purposes ruled out in (a).
    (d) The websites of Sridu (sridu.com) are not part of the software; this
section places no restriction on them.

B5. Name and logo.
The name "Sridu" and the project's icon are not licensed. A changed
version must not be presented as the original.

B6. Consequence.
Part B is a condition of every licence granted in Parts A and C. Doing
anything Part B rules out ends all your licences - see "Violations" in
    Part C.

B7. Anything else.
Whatever is not permitted here needs written permission from the licensor.
Just ask - via https://sridu.com. For a club, an event or a commercial
idea an arrangement is usually possible.

PART C - POLYFORM NONCOMMERCIAL LICENSE 1.0.0
---------------------------------------------

Reproduced in full and unchanged. Read together with Parts A and B above.

# PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0

<https://polyformproject.org/licenses/noncommercial/1.0.0>

## Acceptance

In order to get any license under these terms, you must agree
to them as both strict obligations and conditions to all
your licenses.

## Copyright License

The licensor grants you a copyright license for the
software to do everything you might do with the software
that would otherwise infringe the licensor's copyright
in it for any permitted purpose. However, you may
only distribute the software according to [Distribution
License](#distribution-license) and make changes or new works
based on the software according to [Changes and New Works
License](#changes-and-new-works-license).

## Distribution License

The licensor grants you an additional copyright license
to distribute copies of the software. Your license
to distribute covers distributing the software with
changes and new works permitted by [Changes and New Works
License](#changes-and-new-works-license).

## Notices

You must ensure that anyone who gets a copy of any part of
the software from you also gets a copy of these terms or the
URL for them above, as well as copies of any plain-text lines
beginning with `Required Notice:` that the licensor provided
with the software. For example:

> Required Notice: Copyright Yoyodyne, Inc. (http://example.com)

## Changes and New Works License

The licensor grants you an additional copyright license to
make changes and new works based on the software for any
permitted purpose.

## Patent License

The licensor grants you a patent license for the software that
covers patent claims the licensor can license, or becomes able
to license, that you would infringe by using the software.

## Noncommercial Purposes

Any noncommercial purpose is a permitted purpose.

## Personal Uses

Personal use for research, experiment, and testing for
the benefit of public knowledge, personal study, private
entertainment, hobby projects, amateur pursuits, or religious
observance, without any anticipated commercial application,
is use for a permitted purpose.

## Noncommercial Organizations

Use by any charitable organization, educational institution,
public research organization, public safety or health
organization, environmental protection organization,
or government institution is use for a permitted purpose
regardless of the source of funding or obligations resulting
from the funding.

## Fair Use

You may have "fair use" rights for the software under the
law. These terms do not limit them.

## No Other Rights

These terms do not allow you to sublicense or transfer any of
your licenses to anyone else, or prevent the licensor from
granting licenses to anyone else. These terms do not imply
any other licenses.

## Patent Defense

If you make any written claim that the software infringes or
contributes to infringement of any patent, your patent license
for the software granted under these terms ends immediately. If
your company makes such a claim, your patent license ends
immediately for work on behalf of your company.

## Violations

The first time you are notified in writing that you have
violated any of these terms, or done anything with the software
not covered by your licenses, your licenses can nonetheless
continue if you come into full compliance with these terms,
and take practical steps to correct past violations, within
32 days of receiving notice. Otherwise, all your licenses
end immediately.

## No Liability

***As far as the law allows, the software comes as is, without
any warranty or condition, and the licensor will not be liable
to you for any damages arising out of these terms or the use
or nature of the software, under any kind of legal claim.***
